Volunteer Manager

Part Time Voluntary Role

About us

We are a registered pregnancy loss charity established in July 2019, providing support to anyone affected by every type of pregnancy loss that occurs before the 24th week of pregnancy.

Our services include the CRADLE Counselling service and CONNECTED online support groups, we also
provide a range of practical resources to the NHS including CRADLE Comfort Bag which are made available to women during their hospital stay who are receiving care during or following pregnancy loss.

We continue to grow and have created an opportunity for a Volunteer Manager to join CRADLE reporting into Directors, to lead our dedicated Team of 35 CRADLE Ambassadors as well as our community volunteers who support our Ambassadors.

The role will report into the Operations Director and as the Volunteer Manager, you will be the first point of contact for all CRADLE Ambassadors and community volunteers.

About you

We are looking for someone with previous experience of leading a team of fundraising volunteers in a non-profit or charitable organisation, preferably in the role of a Volunteer Team Leader or Manager.

You will need to be confident in producing content and using social media, as well as Facebook Live, Twitter and Zoom., you will need access to a Laptop or Desktop PC and a smartphone to undertake this role.

You will have and can demonstrate the following:-

  • Empathetic written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership and planning skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational, time management skills, and ability to deliver results creatively with limited resources
  • Creative approach to team building and meeting objectives
  • Flexible and non-judgmental
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Build a strong bond with the team of Volunteers by way of hosting regular zoom sessions, mentoring, team building, regular information sharing and being the main point of contact to answer questions
  • Support the Volunteer Team with their fund-raising ideas
  • Creating awareness of CRADLE via social media and within your own community
  • Receive direction from Directors
  • Conduct audit of services delivered by the Volunteers and record information to deliver in monthly online meeting with  Directors
  • Provide guidance to Volunteers on their roles and responsibilities to the Charity in accordance with the Volunteer Agreement and Policies of the Charity, when required
  • Prioritise the welfare of volunteers at all times
  • Report any areas of concern regarding the wellbeing of the Volunteers to Directors

There will be a two-stage interview process and references will be required from two previous
employers or organisations where voluntary roles have been undertaken. Offer is subject to satisfactory references.

The Opportunity

The role of peer support volunteer allows anyone with personal lived experience of pregnancy loss to join our national peer support team, to deliver CRADLE online and in person support services which include

  • CONNECTED Online Zoom Support Group
  • Facebook support group
  • Call back service


About us

We are a registered pregnancy loss charity established in July 2019, providing support to anyone affected by every type of pregnancy loss that occurs before the 24th week of pregnancy.

Our services include the CRADLE Counselling service and CONNECTED online support groups, Facebook Support Group and the CRADLE call back service providing 121 support on the telephone or Zoom.

We also provide a range of practical resources to the NHS including CRADLE Comfort Bag which are made available to women during their hospital stay who are receiving care during or following pregnancy loss.

In August 2021 CRADLE received funding to launch the new CRADLE CONNECTED online peer support service, which is currently delivered for the Greater Manchester Mental Health Foundation Trust, and the local residents of Greater Manchester who have been affected by pregnancy loss.

Our community and services continue to grow and we are now looking to recruit additional Peer Support Volunteers to join our existing team, allowing us to extend our services across all 39 Hospitals as part of our 5 year plan.

About you

We are looking for team members who can commit to providing regular peer support to members of our CRADLE Community, and to support journeys of pregnancy loss without judgement.

Above all, we are looking for empathetic people with excellent listening skills who can hold space for other
people. You will have the confidence to direct a conversation during Zoom Sessions where
necessary, and to work as part of a team, in both Lead Facilitator and support Facilitator roles on a rota system.

Full training will be provided via the CRADLE Academy training programme which can be accessed at a time to suit you. Interactive and live session training will also be provided.
